Well
we are back at work and the Easter break is now only a distant memory. The weather was perfect for holidays,
unseasonably warm and sunny.
Over the break I took the opportunity to visit the NGV
(National Gallery of Victoria) Triennial Exhibition. The promo reads “Featuring the work of over 100 artists and designers from 32 countries,
the NGV Triennial surveys the world of art and design, across cultures, scales,
geographies and perspectives …… explores
cutting edge technologies, architecture, animation, performance, film,
painting, drawing, fashion design, tapestry and sculpture”. It was wonderful!
Here a just a few of the exhibits.
This is an installation (a furnished domestic space) by Yayoi
Kusama. Visitors were given a red poppy
sticker and invited to stick it an where in the “house”. I visited at the end of this exhibition and
by then every space was covered in poppies.
You could no longer distinguish objects.
This is a hand-tufted rug by Alexandra Kehayoglou. The rugs draw into focus landscapes under threat of irreversible
change. The rugs merge traditional
rug-making techniques with detailed site analysis, drone footage and photography. You could take your shoes off and walk on the
rug.
There is also the haute couture collection of Guo Pei
gowns. Rihanna wore one of the Chinese
designers creations to the Met Gala in 2015. They are incredible, over the top and
eccentric but not to be missed.
And now for my card which is for Less is More Challenge - Case Card
Image, Sentiment and Die - CASual Friday
Ink Pad - Distress Ink
Embossing Powder - Hero Arts
Embellishment - Kaiser Craft
I would also like to join the following challenges:-
I am not sure I do have a favorite technique but dies cuts give a nice dimension to cards.
Well that is all for this evening.
